Sunday 8th November 2009

Hot hot hot. Hot weather can create cravings for all kinds of music - quiet, laid back tunes are popular whilst languishing in the shade. Perhaps you get all fired up and want to hear some hot dirty rock or blues? Perhaps you want to go with the madness and have a fun freakout. Today's playlist was all about exploring those options.

My guest in the first hour was Mr Black and Blues and I had the great pleasure of a seeing him play live in the studio. Michael had an incredible story to share, about breaking his neck and losing the use of his left arm for a long time - through music and expressing himself Michael found his way back to health and mobility. His album The Morning Light is sensational and worth checking out - why not pick up a copy at one of the many gigs he has coming up?

He is a lovely fella, do support him in his musical career if you can!

I also had a chat with Andrew Morris of the Wilson Pickers about the month of Sundays he has coming up at the Retreat. His album Needs and Wants is sensational, and he'll be playing a solo set as well as a band set, with some great support acts over the weeks including Kim Dellavadova and Sime Nugent. They're free as well!
